Dryer Vent Cleaning Service
It is unfortunate that many people don't realize the importance of having their dryer vents cleaned and properly maintained. A plugged dryer vent can cause excessive heat build-up not only within the vent but also within the drying appliance, creating a situation that could possibly result in a fire. In addition to dirty vents, there are many things that can result in such a chain of events. These may include:
Lint build-up inside the dryer
Missing or damaged lint screen
Crushed hose behind the dryer
Problems with the thermostat and/or limiter switch in the dryer
Another problem that happens quite regularly is the fact that small birds often find a way into the vent and use that area for nesting. This is highly unsanitary as they carry many germs and parasites, especially in their droppings which eventually accumulate and block off the vent entirely. We strongly recommend cleaning and installing a "bird barricade" to ensure that your dryer vent duct system doesn't end up as a nesting site
At Double Diamond Air Duct Cleaning, we can help you avoid such a disaster. Our expert technicians, using specialized equipment, will thoroughly clean the entire vent system, from the dryer to the exhaust vent hood. We will effectively remove all lint build-up, which will allow your dryer to operate at peak efficiency. Using high pressure air tools (spinning reverse 240 psi air snake), we pull built-up lint from your dryer vent, removing any blockages as well as cleaning the build-up on the sides of the duct.
If you’re concerned about your air quality, or are in need of emergency repair, call Double Diamond Air Duct Cleaning in Bowmanville and set up a consultation with us.
We're often asked how often a dryer vent should be cleaned. It's not an exact science as to how often this should be done because there are many factors that affect your vents. How often you do your laundry and for how many people are questions that affect lint build-up. If you have long vents with multiple turns and elbows, there is a greater chance of getting more lint build-up faster than having a straighter, shorter vent. An older machine may produce more lint than a newer model using newer ducts. However, it is recommended that an annual clean-up is a good idea and it gives you peace of mind knowing that you have also done something to reduce the potential of a devastating fire.
Vinyl ducts are unsafe. This type of flexible duct tubing can pose a serious fire hazard as it is susceptible to heat and collapsing. It also allows an excess of lint to stick on its inner surface, and thus becomes clogged. If you have this right now, remove it for your own safety, and call us right away. We will come and install a new dryer duct, using the correct metal that will be safe and last for years. If you have any damaged ducting, we can also repair it for you, again using the right materials.
We are also happy to handle dryer vent cleaning services for high rise buildings. Please call us for more information and to arrange for a free on-site quotation.
